Q: What drew you to freight forwarding?
When I was a kid, My Japanese Aunt regularly sent us packages. I still remember the excitement of waiting for them to arrive as the box are full of scented paper stationery and chocolates. I would constantly ask my aunt for updates through overseas call, where the shipment was, when it would arrive, and how much longer we had to wait. I also remember feeling disappointed whenever there were delays and incredibly happy whenever the boxes arrived earlier than expected.
Looking back, those experiences were my very first introduction to international shipping and logistics. I didn’t realize it at the time, but those childhood memories gave me a genuine curiosity about how things move from one country to another.
Q: Key achievement in your career?
My greatest career achievement is the people I’ve helped grow.
Eleven years ago, I entered the Freight Forwarding industry, and through continuous learning, great mentors, and plenty of challenges, I built a career that allowed me to lead teams, scale operations, drive automation initiatives, and support business growth.
One highlight was building Team Stargazer – a team of 20 professionals managing 12 accounts across multiple regions while delivering exceptional operational and financial results.
Q: Biggest challenge in Global Freight Forwarding and Logistics today?
Many would point to rising transportation costs, fuel price volatility, geopolitical tensions, port congestion, extreme weather events, or ongoing supply chain disruptions which I couldn’t agree more.
While these challenges continue to test the resilience of our industry, I believe another transformation is shaping our future just as significantly: Artificial Intelligence and automation.
Having worked within an AI technology company focused on automating Freight Forwarding and Logistics processes into CargoWise, I’ve had the opportunity to witness both the remarkable potential and the practical limitations of automation firsthand.
Q: What are your joys and/or hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work, my greatest joy is spending quality time with my family.
No matter how busy life gets, I make it a priority to be present. Whether it’s sharing a meal, having meaningful conversations, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, these are the experiences I value most. As a parent, family time keeps me grounded and reminds me of what truly matters.
I also find peace and inspiration in nature. On weekends, you’ll often find me at the beach, listening to the sound of the waves and taking a moment to slow down.
Another passion of mine is hiking and mountain climbing. Every trail presents a new challenge, a new view, and an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the world around us.
